The bridge approaches consist of a 24' wide, 2 lane road. The west approach is 300' long and the east approach is 550' long. Your equipment can grade the approaches, 3 days after the bridge deck is poured, at a rate of 3,500 SF/day. Next, your crew can lay and compact the aggregate subbase at a rate of 6,500 SF/day. After the subbase, two layers of asphalt paving must be laid, and each layer can be constructed at a rate of 4,000 SF/day. Fine grading along the ditch will take two days, and should finish at the same time as the paving. After fine grading is complete, seed may be laid in one day. 1 day after asphalt paving is complete, road striping may be painted in one day. Also 1 day after the paving is complete, a crew may install guardrails on the bridge deck (5 days) and another may strip the forms from the deck (4 days). Stripping the forms must also wait two weeks after the bridge deck is poured to allow for curing. After all items are complete, the road may open to the public (milestone).
