The sales reps will be selling to doctors all over the country, over-the-counter pharmacists, and even hospitals and research facilities. The potential audiences that the sales reps would want to communicate with about the new drug are B2B and B2C audiences. The main difference between B2B and B2C healthcare marketing is that B2B marketers work with healthcare organizations, and B2C interactions deal with consumers and patients.

The message that hospitals and healthcare facilities send to patients, especially surrounding technology, is much different than one being sent to decision makers and doctors at healthcare brands and hospitals. During the pandemic, B2C healthcare marketers have been producing empathetic healthcare marketing campaigns using language and themes that focus on comfort, reassurance, and understanding. The information that could be disclosed to B2B audiences include:

  • Nomenclature of the drug; chemical name of the drug
  • Addiction status if at all; at what level is the drug addictive and how much effect does the addiction has.
  • Pharmacology- How the drug could impact the body and how it operates in the bloodstream
  • Preferred patients to be used on

For B2C audiences this information would be passed:

  • What the drug does
  • How the drug helps in alleviating the condition they could be in.

There are several ways to present information to B2B audiences including:

Graphical format: To help improve people's ability to understand numerical information, graphical representations of risk are often used. But which format to use? Lots of choices, but little information about which is best for communicating health information. We have bar graphs, pie graphs, pictographs etc.

For B2B audiences we can use mobile communication, sending SMS to customers, and also simple charts when they visit the pharmacists.
