D Question 8 1 pts An astronaut on the international space station feels weightless. But its extremely important to realize they are not actually that far from earth and they are NOT outside of earth's gravity. How can the astronaut feel weightless even though gravity is pulling down on them with a weight force? O Its actually because there is a certain distance from the earth where gravity by the earth just turns off. This is why the space station can just float in orbit up above the earth. So actually, the astronaut feels weightless because there is no gravity is zero where the astronaut is. O The reason is the astronaut and everything around the astronaut are all in free fall together. They are all accelerating. And just like Galileo helped us realize long ago, regardless of an object's weight, it always has the same free fall acceleration as any other heavier or lighter object. That is, since the astronaut is falling, and the space station is also falling at the same rate, the spacestation can not support the weight of the astronaut. They are in free fall together
