Your classmates were invited to a student survey. In this last part, you will work with the preliminary results from that survey.
5. The first step in preparing the data is to identify any values that should be removed from our analysis. The data was collected in hhimmiss form. (For example, 8:15:00 corresponds to 8 hours 15 minutes.) a. (Nothing to submit.) Optional step: Create a copy of the sheet on Excel. Right click on the bottom sheet tab and then click Move or copy. In the dialog box, select the sheet you want to copy, check the box Create a copy, and click OK. . Note: By working on a copied sheet, the original data remains available in a separate sheet for later use, if needed. b. (Nothing to submit.) Use Excel to sort the sleep data in ascending order. . Select all cells in the header. In this sheet, you would select cells A1 to C1. . Click the Data tab in the top menu and click Filter. Click the triangle filter beside the header called Sleep and click Sort Smallest to Largest. C. (Submit a screenshot of your written or typed answer.) Examine the sorted times, paying close attention to the data listed at extreme ends of the list. Identify the four sleep times that should be removed from the analysis and provide a justification of each removal. d. (Nothing to submit.) On the Excel sheet, delete the rows of survey data for the observations you identified in part c. Hint: You should have 341 observations remaining.6. The next step in preparing the data is to convert the remaining sleep times from hh:mm:ss to hh.mm. (For example, 8:15:00 is converted to 8.25 hours.) a. (Nothing to submit. ) Create a new column on the Excel sheet that will contain converted times. Add a new column anywhere. In the first cell, write a descriptive header name. In the second cell, type =B2*24 and press Enter on your keyboard. . Click on that cell again to select it. Click on the Home tab in the top menu and change the format of that cell from Custom to General using the drop-down bar. You should now see that the time has converted into a hh.mm format. . Drag the small green square in the lower right corner of that cell to the bottom of the data table. This applies the formula to all sleep times so that they are presented in the hh.mm format. b. (Submit a screenshot from Excel.) Submit the first 10 sleep times that are converted into the hh.mm format
