• Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA) - examples of healthcare regulations published in Federal Register. Also address waste, fraud, and abuse in the healthcare system; created a single federal standard electronic claims format for electronic data interchange; and focuses on simplifying the administration of health insurance.
• Tort law - simply a civil wrong. Encompasses actions brought when one party believed another party caused harm through wrongful conduct.
• Privacy Act of 1974 - Under this act people have the right to learn what information has been collected about them; view and obtain a copy of that information; correct or amend that information; and maintain limited control over the disclosure of that information to other persons or entities.
