Dawson Creek Furniture Company Dawson Creek Furniture Company produces 4 products, Tables, Chairs, Desks and Cabinets. All of the products require hours for manufacturing, sanding, and polishing. Below is a table that shows the number of hours of Manufacturing, Sanding and Polishing it takes to make each product. Item Manufacturing Sanding Time Polishing Time (Hours) (Hours) Time (Hours) Tables 3 2 0.5 Chairs 4 2.5 Desks 10 1 Cabinets 8 3 2 The firm has 4,100 hours of Manufacturing time available, 2,800 hours of sanding time available and 2,000 hours of Polishing time available this month for its production run. Due to wanting to make a variety of different products, the firm has decided that it should not make any more then 200 of any of the 4 products that it could produce. Each Table sold makes a profit of $50, each Chair produced makes a profit of $24, each Desk produced makes a profit of $80, and each Cabinet produced makes $100 in profit. Since the firm ships the products that they sell at the end of each month to various retail stores, it is not possible to have a fraction of an item. A. Determine the combination of each item that Dawson Creek Furniture Company should produce in order to maximize profit. B. Suppose now the firm decides that they want to make exactly the same amount of Cabinets as they do Desks. What is the new optimal solution
