I William Monroe Trotter was born on Issacs farm Springfield, Ohio in April 17, 1872, to my mother Virginia Issacs and Father James Monroe Trotter. Both being hands on in the race movement and ending segregation. I co-founded the Guardian newspaper, where the mission for the newspaper was to "hold a mirror up to nature."

I Encountered W.E.B. Du Bois shortly after the incident I had with Booker T Washington on July 30th, 1903,at the Zion Church.From this encounter I realized that W.E.B. Du Bois shared the same point of view as myself. He believed in intellectual development, encouraging people to protest, and to agitate the government to incite change throughout the commonwealth.

The way that Booker T. Washington supported the "separate but equal" law claiming that if African Americans were self-sufficient and used labor, we would become equal in the United States. But this claim would've only been good during the reconstruction era. But what happens after? W.E.B. Du Bois stated that this would become the "Disenfranchisement of the Negro". With Booker T. Washingtons compromise with the new law he was able to allow funding to support the university of Tuskegee but in doing so he was taking away from black liberal arts institutions, causing an intellectual disadvantage.

W.E.B. Du Bois and I cofounded the Niagara movement on July 11-14, 1905, creating the "Declaration of Principles". These principles outlined the philosophy of W.E.B Du Bois argument that I support.

The creation of the "Talented Tenth" was necessary. They provided a set of ideas from individuals who are well educated, and these individuals gave a voice for the community. The talented tenth had the ability to lead the mass and fought against the opposing side. He encouraged the Montgomery bus boycott, became the torchbearer for the Pan African movement, and brought awareness to injustices in the south in his monthly magazine "The Crisis". W.E.B.
