Deb's business is going along well. Over the years as Deb's business has grown, she has managed to obtain contracts with many customers being office buildings and factories for her cleaning products. Due to a pandemic, many office workers begin to work from home and production in many factories has slowed. As a result, Deb is finding that many customers are wanting to cancel their two-year contracts. Deb has a discussion with one of her customers who suggests they cannot continue paying for the products. They want to terminate their contract. Deb offers to hold off supplying for the next 6 months. Deb tells them if they can go ahead with the contract she promises to waive the next 6 months' contractual liability. The customer thanks Deb. After 6 months Deb's husband finds out that she has let this customer 'off the hook' with the contract. He sends an invoice demanding payment for the past 6 months.
