Common Bases of Market Segmentation Behavioristic Demographic Age Gender Volume usage End use Psychographic Geographic Personality attributes Region Motives Urban, suburban, rural Lifestyles Market density Climate Terrain City size County size State size Race Ethnicity Income Education Occupation Family size Family life cycle Benefit expectations Brand loyalty Price sensitivity Be as specific as you can within the four common bases of demographics, psychographic, geographic and behavioristic. Choose a common base from the list. For each product CHOOSE THE MOST OL US BASE AND, briefly tell why you chose it. Note: Do not use gender then say men and women". That is not using gender because both were included, hence no segmentation. Use gender you are segmenting only men or only women. Self-cleaning ovens (to me, I thought the most obvious base was demographic and under demographic, I chose income and explained it would be a higher income due to cost, this is a luxuary item. NOTE: FOR THIS ONE I CHOSE ONLY ONE BASE DEMOGRAPHIC WITH THE VARIABLE INCOME. I ALMOST CHOSE A SECOND BASE OF BEHAVIORISTIC BECAUSE THE VARIABLE BENEFITS EXPECTATION (a clean oven without scrubbing) WAS SCREAMING MY NAME, but I decided income was the best choice. So, I could have chosen two bases, but I decided in my professional opinion to go with one. Demographic Base: Income Explanation: higher income level as self-cleaning ovens are a luxury and cost more than the basic oven. I want to address all my advertising and promotion to people of higher income. CHOOSE ONLY ONE TO TWO OF THE FOUR BASES LISTED BELOW EACH NUMBER, 1-4.
