Description: Change in organizations can broadly be viewed into two main categories: Incremental and Transformational. Incremental change is easier to implement with less disruption and a higher chance of success. It is often based on the current state in order to improve the existing way of doing our work and involves fewer changes and affects a small number of people. On the other hand, Transformational change is more difficult to implement, typically having only a low success rate as involves significant culture change and affects a large number of organizational stakeholder because it is designed from a future state and involves a fundamentally new way of doing things. This needs to be explored from a perspective on organizational readiness for change, and how best it can adapt; i.e., how agile it is to the proposed change. As noted by Combe (2014), "there has not been a lot of substantiated direction on how to judge at a point in time whether an organization is ready for a change. Much of what has been offered is, at best, an overview of areas to consider. A few assessment vehicles have been formulated. They are often of limited focus, most often on employee readiness. The maturity of this type of organizational change readiness assessment is still young and incomplete"- Accordingly, you will be required to research and write an exploratory essay on the topic covering the relationship between change agility and change readiness from both incremental and transformation perspectives. You will need to include examples and support your core ideas concept with underlying literature and cases. The essay must be written in your own words and appropriate referencing and citation must be used in all external references (preferred: Harvard referencing system: Your trainer/assessor will provide you with referencing guidelines. There is no specific structure of essay, but it will be expected that you will present your essay with at least three identifiable sections; Introduction, body (main headings) and conclusion. The essay must contain sources/references from a wide range of publications including books, magazines, journals and online resources. Only online references will not be accepted. In an event where a book or a publication is accessed online or an electronic format, it should be appropriate referenced using the referencing guide.
