Description of Assignment:

This assignment focuses on the respective influences on nature and nurture in child development, the effects of early experience on the maturation process, and reliability and ethical practice when carrying out research with children.

Task 1 - The nature nurture debate in child development (AC1.1)

You will be provided with a case study on two feral children, Genie and Isabelle. Use this case study and your further reading on nature and nurture in child development to analyse the following statement:

The cognitive and linguistic capacities of Isabelle and of Genie can only be explained by nurture.

The purpose of providing two case studies is so that comparisons can be made between them ; treat them as individuals.
