Description of the activity

This activity requires you to facilitate a personal development session and a professional development session with each team member . you need to complete the following two (2) parts for each team member:

Part A: Personal development workshop

This part of the activity requires you to facilitate a personal development session with each team member. The purpose of the personal development session is to address the personal development requirements of each team member.

To conduct a personal development session, you need to arrange a meeting with each team member.

Before the meeting, you are required to prepare a meeting agenda using the template provided.

When facilitating the meeting, you are required to:

  • Greet the team member.
  • Follow the communication guidelines provided.
  • Discuss the personal development requirements (i.e. area of development)
  • Provide insights on how they can improve their skills in the desired area of improvement.
  • Clarify the team member's understanding
  • Agree on the further course of actions.

Roles and responsibilities of the team member in the meeting:

For meeting 1:

Team member will:

  • Discuss the following areas of improvement forpersonal and professional development:
    • Communication and interpersonal skills
    • Time management skills
  • Ask how he/she can improve on their skills in the desired areas of improvement.
  • Clarify their doubts with the team leader
  • Agree on the further course of action for improvement

For meeting 2:

Team member will:

  • Discuss the following areas of improvement forpersonal and professional development:

    • Leadership skills
    • Decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ask how he/she can improve on their skills in the desired areas of improvement.
  • Clarify their doubts with the team leader

Communication guidelines for the team leader

  • During the discussion, you can positively influence the discussion by:

    • taking a positive approach and focusing on the future
    • having realistic and reasonable expectations of each other
    • seeking and confirming that you both understand what the other is saying by summarising key points and agreements

Part 2: Professional development sessions

This part of the activity requires you to arrange a professional development sessionwith each team member.

These team members will be the same team members that participated in Activity 2 and the Personal Development session (Part A) of this activity.

Prior to the professional development sessions, the trainer/assessor will discuss one (1) area of professional development with each team member. This area of professional development must be from the "Activity context" given in this activity.

Before the professional development session, you must research and gather knowledge on the areas of improvements for professional development given in the 'Activity context'.

When facilitating the professional development session, you are required to:

  • Discuss the areas of improvement for professional development
  • Share your experience, knowledge and ideas based on the research conducted on specific topics (areas of improvements for professional development) with each team member in order to encourage him/her to try new approaches to solving problems.

Team members will:

  • Share their issues
  • Clarify their concerns and request for further information on the areas of improvements

After conducting the professional development sessions, you must complete the professional development session template for each team members. These templates are provided on the following pages.
