Initiative- WIDA ELD 2020 Standard Training
Purpose- ML population increases in public schools in GCPS.The ELD Standards Framework is centered on equity and fosters the assets, contributions, and potential of multilingual learners (MLs). It serves asa resource for planning and implementing language instruction and assessment for MLs as they learn academic content.
Its big ideas are equity of opportunity and access, integration of content and language, collaboration among stakeholders, and a functional approach to language development. They clearly promote GCPS Blue Print for the Future to increase students' achievement. Thishelp teachers plan and deliver instruction, build on the strengths of MLs and support them in meeting rigorous, grade-level academic content standards.
Got the facilitator's training through the ML department
Discussion with Assistant Principal and principal to determine time frame and delivery model
Create a survey to determine online training or in-person training preference
Provide guidance and support individually how to take online training
For in-person training, provide modules after school

Invite all Certified Staff to participate in the WIDA ELD 2020 Training either in-person or online
Provide incentives for staff to take an extra learning opportunity after school.
