The following are the general Kinematic equations and apply to both Horizontal (x) and Vertical Motion (y). Kinematic Equations Vector components formulas: v = Vo + at Vx = V * COs (0) x = xo + vt Vy = v * sin (0) x = xo + vot+ =at2 Angle of direction n of a Projectile relative to the horizontal line: v2 = Vg+ 2a(x - xo) 0 = tan-1() Speed of the projectile: v = (V x ) 2 + (1 , ) 2 When playing soccer as a kid Pedro always played as the goalie. After learning about 2D Kinematics Pedro was interested in finding out some information about the motion and the trajectory of a ball when its kick by a goalie to put the ball back in play. Pedro did some research on Gianluigi Buffon (One of the best Italian's keepers) and found out that Buffon's style of kicking the ball was at an angle of 40 degrees, 1 meter above the ground and giving the ball an initial velocity of 20 m/s. Given this information help Pedro calculate the following. Assume there is no air resistance. a. Find the Maximum height the ball reaches relative to the ground. (yo = +1 m). (2 points) b. At the very top of the ball's trajectory what would be the ball's speed? (1 point) c. Find out how far will the ball land if nobody on the teams interferes with the path of the ball. (2 points) Extra Credit: In the case that Mario Balotelli (Forward Player) decided to let the ball hi head, without jumping, to redirect the ball, how fast and at what angle will the ball be traveling when it hits Balotelli who is 1.95 meters tall. (3 points)
