Directions We examined the challenges of preparing a client to testify, both in terms of the rules of procedure and evidence, but also the invasions of privacy and the inability to refuse to answer many questions. Imagine a situation where the client has conveyed to you repeatedly that there are certain parts of their life that they do not want to discuss publicly, either in a deposition or an open courtroom. You are concerned not only that they might become emotional during the trial but that they might not be honest with the court, which could create an ethical dilemma for the legal team.
