Scenario

Your boss requests for you to analyze several arguments about Internet resources to check if they are valid or invalid.

For each of the following arguments, you need to (1) break them down into simple statements, (2) create their truth table, and (3) determine whether it is a valid or invalid argument. If it is invalid, state in English under what circumstances the conclusion does not follow from the propositions.

Argument 1:

Either the URI is configured on TCP port 70 or the IP number is not 127.0.0.1.

Also, if the destination is not a Gopher site, then the URI is not configured on TCP port 70.

Further, if the IP number is 127.0.0.1, then the web site is hosted locally.

Therefore, the web site is hosted locally, or the destination is a Gopher site.

Argument 2:

Either the URI is configured on TCP port 70 or the IP number is not 127.0.0.1.

Also, if the destination is not a Gopher site, then the URI is not configured on TCP port 70.

Further, if the IP number is not 127.0.0.1, then the web site is not hosted locally.

Therefore, the web site is not hosted locally, or the destination is a Gopher site.
