Discuss employee engagement's role in your organization to retain employees and reduce attrition, including the elements listed below. Make sure you address ALL of these elements (whether your job has them or not). When discussing each element, make sure to indicate whether or not these elements increase, decrease, or have no effect on employee engagement (in your opinion).

For example:

"In my last job as an operations manager for a public homebuilding company, we had no professional training opportunities provided. I was forced to seek out those on my own, and it was an act of Congress to get the company to reimburse me for those expenses of professional growth. This policy (or lack of it) put all of the onus on the employee to improve, and employees felt like their performance, and professional growth wasn't important for long-term employment. It made us feel like adding to our professional resume and doing our jobs better wasn't the company's responsibility. That they trained us for the job we were to do, and we weren't to look to improving ways to do our jobs or get better at the skills needed to do our jobs."

If you have no personal experience, look to a family member or friend and present these issues and discuss the story.

This should be at least one paragraph - 4 to 5 sentences per paragraph. Enough information to start a discussion.

You must respond to at least one other student's posting to receive full credit for the discussion. The best posts further the conversation and add to learning the objectives of the module. Posts like "I agree" will not be counted as participation since they do not further the conversation.
