Discuss how you would (or have) disciplined young children that is consistent with the research. Include the use of the learning theories of operant conditioning and social learning. Include punishments such as time-outs, taking away privileges, scolding, psychological control, explaining (called "induction"), and spanking and why you would or would not utilize them. Also include the role of rewards to reinforce appropriate behavior. Support your views mainly with research findings, but you can include one anecdotal/personal example as well. Include as many of the concepts/terms that you can but apply at least eight to 10 and demonstrate your understanding of them. Be sure to cite your sources properly in the body and in a reference section at the end. Use quotes sparingly for support of your views, but do not use quotes greater than three sentences.
