1. Choose a recent outbreak or other public health emergency situation that has drawn significant media attention and describe how specific occupational categories in the public health infrastructure contributed to either the emergency situation or its solution.

The most recent outbreak that we encountered was the COVID 19. This situation drew national headlines across the globe. This was something that looked out of a movie, but in fact was happening in real life. Everyone was trying to figure out what this was and how to protect everyone from it. There was quarantine that was put in place, along with curfews. When people starting to travel there were people there to make sure that you took a test before getting on the plane and that you had proof that it was negative. There were a lot of different plans and procedures that were put in place during this emergency to help everyone during these hard times.

Public health workers are very important. Public health workers comes from different academic, professional, and experiential backgrounds.( They have a commitment to complete a mission and ethical principles. Public health workers are to set public health competencies that has to be able to describe the content and skill areas critical to success for the public health efforts. Many public health workers get formal education and continuing education of public health practice along with credentialing and making sure the they have a set standard for their profession. There is on-the-job training as well.
