DISCUSSION 1 :

Cultural competence focuses on sensitivity to cross-cultural differences and the ability to adapt to other cultural environments, or reflective awareness of cultural influences on one's thoughts and behaviors (Pushpakumara, 2021). How this correlates with someone in the professional workplace is that it avails opportunities for one to develop into a successful communicator, collaborate and work across cultural boundaries. In almost every professional workplace there is cultural diversity, race, gender, different nationalities, and other entities. Having a sense of cultural competence can influence thoughts and behaviors when faced with differences; acknowledge and respect the culture of other people and promote cohesiveness within the professional workplace.

In the vein of context, there are two areas of consideration. High-context communication style is where individuals have internalized meanings and information so that little is explicitly stated, written, or spoken in messages. Low-context communication style preference for explicit direct messages, independent of the relationship, (2016). Being cognizant of these two styles of communication can assist in cultural competency as it relates to collaborating with others of diverse backgrounds. It is key to know your professional environment to be able utilize the correct context when communicating with others. Online resources assert that being aware of cultural contexts and trying to develop fuller cultural awareness, as well as fuller self-awareness of one's own assumptions and cultural lens, can help analyze communication situations.

DISCUSSION 2: Cultural competence is being aware of your cultural beliefs and values and how these may be different from other cultures. Reflective knowledge of the cultural impacts on one's ideas and behaviors, or cultural sensitivity to cross-cultural variations, are the main themes of cultural competency. The way in which this applies to someone in a professional job is by providing possibilities for one to become a skilled communicator, cooperate, and work across cultural borders. Culture, ethnicity, gender, diverse nations, and other elements are present in practically every professional workplace. When confronted with differences, having a sense of cultural competency may affect how one thinks and acts. It can also help one understand and acknowledge the culture of others and foster harmony in the workplace.

In every aspect, we have to be able to deal with people of every background, culture, age, and ethic. We have to learn to adapt to things that we are not used to seeing in this world because the world as you can see is changing daily right before our eyes.
