In the week 7 assignment, the client systems that were identified were the population of people experiencing homelessness and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. This population has higher rates of co-morbidity such as SUD and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) than the average person (Torchalla et al., 2014). In a study of 500 of these individuals by Torchalla et al. (2014), measures of psychosocial functioning were examined along with sex-related measures of SUD. It was discovered that PTSD and sex had a serious effect on psychological distress, increased risk of incarceration, and suicidality rates. The study challenged the thought that sex influenced whether someone experiencing homelessness had a higher rate of SUD or PTSD.
The secondary client system identified in the week 7 assignment is populations of pre-contemplative individuals who are not aware of a need to address certain behaviors that are having adverse effects on their lives. These individuals are identified using Prochaska's Stages of Change model (Monaghan et al., 2015).

These client systems and the change agent systems in collaboration with the support system work together to create change by supporting the target system in moving towards its proposed goal (Netting et al., 2017). There is a certain time when the change agent system becomes the action system and consists of multiple individuals who all play a key role in moving the target system towards implementation (Netting et al., 2017). This means that the agencies like a mental health center work with supporting agencies like the police to improve the chances that a mental health crisis is handled in such a way that helps lead the person to success and an improved quality of life.
