Discussion Board Forum $4$Hello,Before discussing how restorative justice differ from traditional justice approach, this learner would like to discuss what the two are. $$In a traditional criminal justice system, the state acts on behalf of victims to punish an offender$[$Ala$15].$Restorative justice is various sentencing philosophies and practices that emphasize an offender$$s taking of responsibility to repair harm done to a victim and a surrounding community$[$Ala$15].$Restorative justice emerged in recent years as an alternative paradigm to the Western court system to deal with law violations and criminal offences, through a more constructive, dialogical process that involves victims, offenders and possibly members of their community$[$Wen$03].$This learner believes that restorative justice is different from traditional justice approach because it focuses on the victim through community$-$based corrections.
