Discussion Question A low-cost airline has three hubs, one in Dallas, another in Seattle, and the third in Boston. In total, there are 385 aircraft of the same type. An identical type of aircraft crashed and an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) concluded that it was due to a software problem in a safety critical system. The NTSB has issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD) that an update to the software must be completed within 7 days or the aircraft loses its Certificate of Airworthiness (it cannot fly commercially). Develop a plan that will ensure all aircraft have their software updated within the time period and address the details of how this can be tracked to prevent an aircraft being taken out-of- service when the software update has been completed. Include in your answer how the software can be verified as the correct version and what documentation or recording would be necessary to demonstrate that compliance has been met.
