Discussion: Whose morality? In whose benefit?

In the context of the lecture material and the two videos that we watched (Bob Dylan's With God on Our Side) and the video by Juan Enriquez on Is Right and Wrong Always Black and White, we should briefly consider the following questions.

Given that morality is a deeply held belief system, how do we gain some objectivity about what we consider to be moral knowing that those who differ from our views also firmly hold their moral beliefs deeply?

As we will discuss again later in the course, some people believe that there are universal human values that should be accepted by everyone, while others believe that all values are relative and depend on the cultural beliefs of the people who hold them. How do we understand the fact that not everyone see the world the same way or agrees with us about what is right or wrong moral behavior?
