Question 1. You will need to use a numerical solving software (e.g. MATLAB, Python, Excel) to solve this exercise. The reaction of A with B to give C: A + B -> C r = k_{1}*C_{A}*C_{B} is accompanied by the undesired side reaction: 2B -> D r = k_{2} * C_{B} ^ 2 To minimize the amount of D that will be formed, an ideal semi-batch reactor will be used. The reactor will be operated isothermally at a temperature where the values of the rate constants are k_{1} = 0.5 L/mol-hr and k_{2} = 0.25L / m * olhr The total volume of the reactor is 10,000 L. The initial charge is 2000 L, containing 2.0 mol/L of A, 0.25 mol/L of B, and no C or D. A solution containing 0.50 mol/L of B and no A, overline C . or D is fed into the reactor at a rate of 1000 L/hr for 7 hours, beginning immediately after the initial charge has been added.

(a) What are the concentrations of A, B, C, and D in the reactor after 7 hours? (b) What is the value of the selectivity, S C / D for the overall process?
