Do we start with trust at 100% and then it gets eroded or do we begin at 0% and trust is created over time? I'm reminded of the many teachers that approach grading in much the same way. Oftentimes, students start at 0 and "earn" their grade, but there's also a school of thought that you start at 100% and you stay at that level or decrease over time. I'm not sure which is better in the long run. I love the idea that we start at 100% which shows that the teacher believes in the student from the start and they student doesn't have to prove themselves, but at the same time, it means every non-perfect grade is lowering expectations and taking away from the teacher's perspective of me.
