Do you agree this is why associates should be required to work in teams if they prefer not to do so; that is, if they prefer to be evaluated based only on their individual efforts?
Whether associates prefer to work in teams or not, they should be required to do so if the job requires it. Associates should not have a choice. Management gives direction, and the employees should follow suit. However, associates should be evaluated based on their individual efforts. Although, there may be some conflicts that could arise when working in a team, and management will have to sift through those conflicts. People should not be allowed to make choices like this because it will foster an environment of people getting their way. However, a growing number of companies are allowing such freedom. "A sense of freedom the ability to choose what you work on, as well as how, when, and where you perform your work is a growing priority for talented professionals across sectors and industries and one of the core elements of a fulfilling career"(Koloc, 2014). I would not mind being given a choice to work in a team or not, but I do not think the company's goals would effectively be accomplished.
