DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT? YES OR NO

When I think of the two words power and politics, I see them as coexisting together. Through power one can influence others through politics. When someone has political influence over others then they gain followers and by numbers and followers they grow in power. It reminds me of a presidential election. How does a president come to power. They influence others using political tactics to gain votes and by popularity have the most votes and power compared to his/her competitors. When it comes to the negative connotation that is revolving around those two words, I would say this. It really depends on how that power was achieved and how that power is being used. If one came to power through manipulation and deceiving others to follow them is a negative manner, then yes, I can see how power can be seen as a negative item. However, if political tactics were used for the better of the general population and people actually like a specific individual as they will make their peers better, then this power and politics can be seen as a positive.

Now in the moment it is difficult to tell how the political influence is affecting you and whether or not this influence should be taken as a positive or a negative. Furthermore, beyond a presidential race this political influence can be seen on a minor scale like in a workplace environment. Each company has a mission statement and values that they would like all employees to abide by. These standards may be discussed in an interview, and it is most likely at this point where a candidate decides whether he thinks the power that the company hold is for the good or the evil. The interviewee will decide if he wants to get hired or not by the way he felt influenced by the interviewer and if he thinks the power of the company is being used in a positive connotation. Overall this item can be looked at many different forms and from many different perspectives but I look forward to reading some of my classmates forum discussion and seeing what they took away from this weeks question.
