Do you think that people accept poor quality in information technology projects and products in exchange for faster innovation ? What other reasons might there be for such poor quality ? Discuss . Personally, I do believe that people will accept poor quality in IT projects and products in exchange for faster innovation .But this wholly depends on the company ;there are companies out there that do care about the quality of the product they supply .However ,most companies are about the bottom line . The longer that a project takes , the more money has to be spent on it. So quality testing takes backseat to making sure it is completed according to the schedule .Money plays a huge factor in everything ;companies want to spend less so being innovative at the cost of quality is a trade -off companies will do. There are many reasons as to why there is poor quality . A major one is the quality control or testing is not as important to companies. According to the textbook , testing should be done at every phase of the project cycle . You never know what issues will arise so testing can help with that. But testing can take time to do which in turn leads to more money being spent. Upper management always wants to see a return on an investment they made sooner rather than later . So corners can be cut to make sure that a product goes to market .I believe that some companies can put out products that are innovative but lack quality so that they are the first ones to get it out. Once they get it out, they will refine the product and make it more worthwhile .A company like Apple makes quality products because they do the due diligence necessary for quality management .But even their updates can have bugs or glitches and they will put updates as soon as it happens . Quality should be of greater importance , but Ican see the money being an issue from a company standpoint Financial concerns , lack [change of resources , and lack of strict quality control might be some other reasons for poor quality .Budget controls around project drive a lot of decision making process and things can be reprioritized if parts of it are falling behind . Delivering under a strict financial budget can be tough .The resources that work on the projects tend to leave in between projects or get re -allocated to other more important tasks lead to dis connection in the task execution associated in a complex IT project .Finally , the quality of the work that has been performed needs to be checked through a process . The lack of process and controls to validate quality through automated testing , quality assurance cycles , or end user testing leads to poor quality. All project stakeholders aren't working together to balance the quality , scope , time and cost dimensions of the project Project managers aren't familiar with basic quality terms , standards and recourses Quality audits haven't been done in order to determine how performance can be improved for current and future projects by reviewng what quality management activities helped identify lessons learned The processes within quality control (acceptance decisions , rework and process adjustments ) weren't incorporated in later stages to be sure that the results comply with the standards that were set in place Reference
