Dow Corning is a company that manufactures silicone breast implants for women across the country. The company was rst inspected by the Food and Drug Administration in 1991, who simply asked for safety information concerning the long-term use of the silicone implants that Dow Corning makes. Dow Corning denied that the product in question was unsafe. Dow Corning was left alone until later in 1991. Later that year, Dow Corning's image was in question again as negativity surrounding the safety of the implants came back into focus. Next, came accusations of the company's hotline giving misleading information to any of its implant customers. Third, an implant customer sued the breast- implant manufacturer for damage to her health from the implants. As a result of this lawsuit, company documents were released that showed internal representatives questioning the safety of their product. These documents proved that Dow Corning pushed their implants to be manufactured despite concerns of product researchers
