separated value (TSV) file containing a list of velocity vectors (cm/s) for a particle traveling
in the plane, gathered at 0.05-second intervals. The vx(t) and vy(t) columns contain the x-
and y-components of the particles velocity vector v (t)=vx(t), vy(t), respectively, and
the rx(t) and ry(t) columns contain space for the x- and y-components of the particles
position vector r (t)=rx(t), ry(t), respectively.
Import this data file into Excel (or any other spreadsheet software). The particles initial
position of r (0)=270,400 cm is given. Use this, along with the velocity data, to numerically
solve the initial value problem
r (t)=v (t), r (0)=270,400 cm
to fill in the remaining positions in the rx(t) and ry(t) columns. Then generate a scatter
plot of the resulting positions by plotting ry(t) versus rx(t).
You do not need to include your Excel file in your solution file, but you should include
(i) a description of how you computed the position values, in enough detail for the reader to
reproduce your steps given the same data file, and (ii) the resulting scatter plot.
