Dr. Urie Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory is a well-known model to promote our understanding of how social environmental factors influence human growth and development. He named these structures the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem and chronosystem. This theory values the manner in which the ecological systems inform development inclusive of active parental figures, social support system, school, community, neighborhood, parents' places of employment, economic and political systems affecting society, cultural norms, social movements, family composition, etc.

Take a moment to reflect upon your earliest memories up to the present time to provide responses to the following:

1. Provide your own personal definition of each of the five systems (microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem, and chronosystem). Along with the definition provide at least two to three examples of how each system is applicable to your own life, inclusive of the formative years to the present.
2. For the final paragraph, describe within the context of the Theory how the self-identified examples have influenced your development and who you are today.
