THIS IS MY MEMO, It's a letter dealing with this information
Memo:
Dear Roxana Wheaton,
I have completed research on the potential overseas market of the United Kingdom, as well as effective communication strategies for this market. The UK is an attractive market for language translation software due to its strong economy and its high adoption rate of technology. The UK has a population of over 68 million people, with a GDP of $2.6 trillion (Worldometer, 2023). The UK has a long history of innovation including the first licensed COVID-19 vaccine in 2020 (Business Insider, 2020).
Additionally, the UK has a high literacy rate of 99%, and English is the primary language spoken in the country. This fact makes it an ideal market for language translation software, as it provides a large potential customer base and a language that is already widely spoken. They have found that higher demand with lower resources helps the burnout and turnover rates in businesses (McCarthy, 2021). This idea is beneficial to know if we want to conduct business in this country.
In terms of communication strategies, the UK is a very formal market. Business communication is typically conducted in a formal, polite, and professional manner (Business Communication, 2019). Correspondence should be concise and to the point, without being overly casual. It is also important to do research on the company you are contacting, as this will help you tailor your message to their specific needs. In the UK the workweek is usually Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm and it's very rare for them to work on Saturdays (Kinsella, 2021). This is something that in the US we typically see as well, now of course we do have the occasional weekend work, but we can utilize this type of working culture going forward.
Based on my research, the UK is a viable market for Chalmers Controls and our language translation software. I have drafted a letter to a potential distributor in the UK and would be happy to discuss any further questions or concerns you may have.
Sincerely,
Brittany Bitkowski
Marketing Director of Chalmers Controls
