Sapid Sweets Incorporated is preparing to hire its seasonal employees for the summer. The hiring represents additional positions at Sapid Sweets being integrated into an existing workforce should the company decide to go forward with the new energy bar production. The company will require three (3) plant employees and a receptionist within the administration department.

Sapid Sweets operates under an active Human Resources Policy, (excerpts are attached for your reference) concerning recruitment, selection, personnel governance and management reference. Sapid Sweets recently updated their policies and procedures concerning privacy, probation, employment terms, and conditions. Sapid Sweets has found that past human resource management issues were the result of confusing and incomplete hiring processes, where employment contracts were vague and not updated for a number years.

The Human Resource Department requires a new temporary staff contract, and has asked the Legal Department to prepare this in advance of the hiring. Sapid Sweets wants to ensure that newly hired staff will be aware of all the terms and conditions of their employment, while maintaining the flexibility in management for the company. With additions to the number of employees for administration and operations, Sapid Sweets will use the employment contract and agreement as a sample for future hiring.

Julianne Thompson-Rae is a Senior Lawyer, and has been working at Sapid Sweets for the past five years. Although she is very familiar with employee laws and agreements, Julianne is out of the office and rarely prepares initial drafts of contracts. She has left instructions and special considerations you should take into account - just enough for you to draft a contract agreement of employment. This is very exciting, and a great test of your new skills!

Julianne has listed her instructions in a memorandum for you to follow.
