A private recycling company named Green and Clean has customers within a small country in residential and commercial communities. They collect recyclable material from their customers on an agreed schedule. Each time that material is collected it is weighed and at the end of the month the customers are awarded green credits commensurate with the amount of recycling collected from them for the month. Each category of recycling has a credit payment per unit of weight associated with it. The following details are known from the analysts work with the company:

They have a fleet of trucks each out fitted with an (automatic arm that fits the recycling bins).

Each bin has a unique barcode associated with it. The barcode indicates the address, type of recycling and client account information.

The trucks position themselves appropriately, grabs the bin, scans and weighs the bin then empties the bin into the appropriate receptacle in the truck. (e.g. plastic bottles, paper, soda cans).

A customers contract with the company may be for one or more types of recycling.

The system keeps track of the weight of recyclable material collected per customer, number of bins emptied by each truck and the number of bins emptied per driver (since the driver of a truck is not necessarily the same one at all times but must be paid for the work done on his shift).

Customers are able to spend their green credits with participating merchants by providing a green clean customer card. The recycling company pays the monetary cost to the participating merchants on a monthly basis.
