Jan 7, 2015 Officials warn the public that a Disneyland visitor has been linked to 9 confirmed cases of the measles throughout California and Utah. . 8 of the 9 patients had not been vaccinated. . Ten days later, health officials report at least 51 cases, all but nine linked to the Disneyland outbreak. . By the end of the month, California State University, Long Beach confirms a student has been diagnosed with measles. . This event triggered an international debate on vaccine hesitancy, particularly as it had spread to people who intentionally declined the vaccine and put vulnerable people who could not have the vaccine at risk. The outbreak prompted the California Senate Bill 277 Ex, laws that reverted the California personal belief vaccine exemption.
