Duracell, a well-known company that produces batteries, continually wants to compare their product to those of their competitors so they can keep running their pink rabbit commercials without question. You have been assigned the task of taking a random sample of thirty-five (35) Duracell batteries and a random sample of thirty-five (35) competitor "E" batteries. You drain each battery in the same fashion and record the time to failure (in minutes).

Test the hypothesis at the .01 level that Duracell is in fact a longer-lasting battery. In this case, the population variances are not known.

1) State the Null hypothesis (Ho) in both words and in numerical form. (1 mark)

2) State the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) in both words and in numerical form. (1 mark)

3) What kind of test you will use to test the hypothesis? (Z or T, 1 tail or 2 tail) (2 marks)

4) Calculate the appropriate test statistic using Excel. (4 marks

5) What is your conclusion based on the statistical results? State the conclusion using "hypothesis" language as well as in the context of the problem.
