During Practical B of Intensive 2 you will be caring for a patient, Raj, experiencing a small bowel obstruction. As part of this task, you will need to film yourself inserting a nasogastric tube (NGT). You will be allocated some time during Practical B of Intensive 2 tcpractice NGT insertion. To complete the NGT insertion videoyou will need to attend one of the open lab sessions(please refer to BaRN for additional information}. The performance of NGT insertion requires the completion of three elements: El Undertaking NGT insertion demonstration El Filming the demonstration El Completing the Clinical Skills Appraisal Form (provided in Intensive 2, Practical B Workbook} The purpose of the video is so that you can watch yourself completing the skill and reect on which elements were performed well, and areas which could be improved upon. Using Driscoll's Model of Reflection, you will then need to discuss the identified weakness(es} in relation to the Registered nurse standards for practice and formulate some evidencebased strategies to overcome the identified weakness(es}. The proposed strategies need to clearly promote positive health outcomes for the patient. You need to write in prose for this assessment piece. The use of headings is permitted.
