Each group will answer the three questions provided below with reference to the scenario presented in Case 2 The Fit Shop Limited - which appears in the Appendix Section of the course text on pages 474 to 476. The three questions are contained on the third page of this document under the heading of Case Questions. When producing your Written Report, remember the following instructions: 1) Each group will submit a Written Report as per the posted rubric and in the recommended format outlined in the posted guidance document What is a Case Study. Your written report of research conclusions will be written from the perspective of a team of compensation consultants retained by Susan Superfit of the Fit Shop Limited. This Written Report will contain the following sections: o An Executive Summary o A Summary of Important Facts o A Statement of at least 2 Key Issues per question (from a Compensation Management Perspective) o An Analysis (of options from a Compensation Management perspective that could be used to address the identified Key Issues for each question) o Recommendations/Best Solution(s) (again from a Compensation management perspective to solve the identified Key Issues for each question). No other case study sections are required. For example, your Written Report should not include an Implementation Plan section. All other requirements outlined under the section Case Format Concerns in the posted guidance document What is a Case Study (i.e., Title page, Table of Contents, References) must be followed as well. 2) Remember that your Written Report must be reflect the materials and concepts discussed in this course and that your Written Report needs to be written from a Compensation Management perspective. Your job is to apply concepts discussed in this course to the situation described in The Fit Shop Limited case. For each concept applied, please reference the Week it was discussed in class and provide specific references to where it is discussed in terms of class materials. 3) Answer the three questions provided below in the section Case Questions. 4) Your Written Report must be organized in a manner that clearly identifies what material addresses each of the three questions asked by Susan Superfit. 5) The Written Report must be submitted in Word format using 12 font. 6) You must cite your sources. If you do not reference the source, and you have plagiarized, it is an automatic grade of 0 as per college policy. Use the APA format for citation style: http://library.concordia.ca/help/citing/apa.php 7) Do not assign sections to each member of the group and then cut and paste them together to form your submission. 8) Following all instructions is worth 20 % of the assignment grade as per the assignment rubric. Marks Marks will be allocated as per the Rubric provided on the class Moodle page. This Written Report is worth 35% of your Final Grade in this course. Remember that up to 20 % of the assignment grade can be deducted for issues of Grammar, Spelling, Composition and clarity. Any submitted material that cannot be understood will not be assessed for a grade. Proofread your work thoroughly before submitting it. Due Dates Each groups Written Report must in the drop box provided no later than 11:59pm EST on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Any late submissions will receive a grade of 0. If you have a problem with submitting this assignment on time, you are expected to contact me and discuss the reason and any alternate arrangements (if available) before the due date. Group Work Students are expected to work together in the approved groups of 5 or 6 members. Groups have been provided and a copy of the approved groups on the course Moodle page. Each member of the group is expected to participate equally in the work of the group as determined by the group. Case Questions You are a group of Human Resource professionals hired by Susan Superfit, the founder of the Fit Shop Limited, to provide expert advice from a compensation management perspective regarding the following three question: 1) She believes, as does your group, that the Fit Shop would be well suited to an organizational performance pay plan. Select the specific organization pay plan that you believe would work best; describe in detail its design and how you would deal with any design issues. 2) She also believes that a performance appraisal system linked to merit pay would be a good fit for the Fit Shop. She is familiar with this approach from previous experience but is asking your team to provide your views on the key critical components and related considerations of a performance appraisal system linked to merit pay to guide its implementation at the Fit Shop. 3) Last, but not least, Susan has become aware that several unions are actively organizing employees of other retail organizations in markets the Fit Shop will be targeting. She would prefer to remain union free. She is asking for 2 additional recommendations and supporting logic - from a compensation and rewards perspective from your group to help achieve this outcome. Tip: Do some research on key compensation issues unions seek to address when they organize new bargaining units in Canada
