Earth’s Interior Layers Diagram

Earth’s interior is composed of distinct layers. Your goal forthis assignment is to create your own picture of the Earth’sinterior layers – TO SCALE.

Directions: Look over the description of Earth’s interior layers/ zones within textbook chapter 5. Create your own unique sketchshowing all of Earth’s interior layers / zones. Be sure to draw thelayers in appropriate scale to each other. In other words, Earth’scrust is substantially thinner than Earth’s mantle – theapproximate difference in thickness should be accuratelyillustrated on the diagram. At a minimum, your diagram shouldinclude: crust, mantle, outer core, inner core, lithosphere, andasthenosphere PLUS approximate thicknesses & compositions.

You may hand-draw your diagram or create something on thecomputer. Either option must be a unique creation (i.e. DO NOT COPY& PASTE). If you choose to hand-draw your diagram you will needto scan (or take a digital picture) and upload your diagram.Creativity is encouraged.
