The plant manager blamed the companys current cost accounting system indicating that it doesnt capture appropriate information to use to set product prices. He indicated he had been researching costing systems and felt that activity- based costing would provide more reliable data for setting prices. The company contacted their local university and they were able to provide a couple of graduate students with undergraduate accounting majors to assist in accumulating information that could be used to implement activity-based costing.
