Emily takes AP (advanced placement) courses at her high school. Like other students on the AP track, Emily has completed all of the A-G requirements necessary for university admission Students in these AP courses are choosing college majors in STEM careers such as biomedical research, environmental engineering and robotics. Though many of these students are low- income, they are college ready; their parents' economic background is not a barrier for them as they are able to access support and resources from their school counselor. The majority of the students at this high school, also low income, are on the track of general education. Many of them are not successfully completing the A-G requirements. Some plan attending community college after high school while many are opting to look for a job. Like a small number of these students, another student Monica participates in an apprenticeship program in which she receives on-the-job training in low-pay, entry-level technical jobs. So, in a sense this high school is preparing different students for different jobs in the labor force. With which social theory presented in this class is this analysis most closely associated?
