Employees can benefit from development opportunities if they are introduced positively and are aligned to specific goals for the employee and/or the organization. Development opportunities can include job rotation or shadowing, cross training, conferences, and external training on specific skills the employee may not possess or needs to improve. Internal development experiences can also help employees build relationships with other co-workers and develop a better understanding of how their organization works which can help them when trying to solve problems, make decisions, or grow with the organization. As an employee I believe I would benefit from any of these and would like these types of opportunities. When deciding on development activities leaders should evaluate what is best for the employee as well as the organization because several methods may apply
