Employment Law question, based on Chicago law.
Iga Switaek worked for Changes, Inc. at its Denver office until she was offered a promotion, a raise, and tuition reimbursement if she relocated to the Chicago office. After a few days in the Chicago office, Iga noted that her title and salary were the same and her request for tuition reimbursement had been denied. When she complained to her supervisor Sloane Stephens, Stephens said "Oh, my bad! I totally misunderstood. I was never supposed to offer a raise or promotion. And the company just lost a big customer, so it has canceled the tuition reimbursement program."
Iga files suit, alleging promissory estoppel and fraudulent misrepresentation. Be the lawyer for the company and argue why it should not be liable.
