Please explain whether you believe that whistleblowers in the workplace are heroes, villains or neither of these, and why. Especially in light of COVID-19 and healthcare issues, do you believe that current whistleblower protections go far enough to protect workers or not? Be sure to explain and support your answer.

ANSWER: "I would say it depends on the individual's perspective and the exact circumstances surrounding the whistleblowing act. On the one side, whistleblowers might be viewed as heroes for revealing wrongdoing, corruption, fraud, or other unethical behavior that would otherwise go undetected. Whistleblowers who speak up can assist defend the public interest, promote transparency and accountability, and prevent harm to individuals, organizations, or society as a whole. I believe that the whistleblower protections will go far enough to protect co-workers and that depends, literally. But if not then it's a whole lot of issues to deal with. The experiences of nurses who broke the whistle during the COVID-19 outbreak exposed inadequacies and highlighted the urgent need to reconsider our concept of whistleblowing. In many ways, the COVID-19 epidemic has challenged the nurses fundamental concept of whistleblowing, limiting the utility of current work on the subject for reasons (Gagnon, Marilou, July 19). According to nursing on whistleblowing, nurses who blow the whistle do so primarily to protect patient care and outcomes (Jackson et al., 2014). Previous research has identified five sorts of situations that can lead to whistleblowing: dangerous working circumstances; second, departures from practice standards; third unprofessional and harmful behavior; and last but not least,failure to protect patients' rights."
