ENG 4U: Communication is Key Stepping Back to Move Forward You will focus on an individual skill and create a tutorial to teach that skill. You can complete your tutorial in the medium you deem to be most appropriate - in-person in class, as a short video, as a podcast, powerpoint or otherwise, and in the tutorial you will address a particular issue present in your communication and the steps and methods someone could use to improve and/or enhance that issue. The goal is for each of you to become a better communicator, correct? This is meant to help you do that. Choosing an Option . Choose an issue to address in your communication. 1. Your own explanation of the issue. (Note: please do not copy an online definition verbatim. Make it yours and make it novel.) 2. Explain and/or show how that issue occurs in communication. Give examples, explain why it often happens (or doesn't happen, as the case may be), and ensure your audience can clearly understand the problem as it exists. 3. Teach your audience how to address the issue to make improvements and/or enhance their communication. This is the key part of the tutorial. Don't rush this or expect that your audience will immediately know what to do and more importantly, why they are doing it. 4. Your tutorial should be approximately 2 and a half to 3 minutes in length and should be engaging for your audience.
