(2 marks) QUESTION 11 (12 Marks) A well-insulated heat exchanger is to heat water from 25 to 60C at a rate of 0.60 kg/s. The heating is to be accomplished by geothermal water available at 140C at a mass flow rate of 0.75 kg/s. Specific heat capacity: Water Gp = 4.18 kJ.kg-1.K-1 Geothermal water cp = 4.31 kJ.kg 1.K-1 (a) Determine the rate of heat transfer. (3 marks) (b) Determine the rate of entropy generation in the heat exchanger. (5 marks) (C) State your assumptions made. (3 marks) (d) What would be the percentage of error in the entropy production rate if the geothermal water specific heat capacity was assumed to be equal to the water's? (1 Mark)
