Engineers in the Mimex Corporation have been working overtime to improve production processes. They focused on the stamping process for a gear that is major component of their walking talking action doll. Because even small savings in time can make the difference in production costs, they squeeze every second from the production lines. They recently devised a new process for the stamp they believe will save them a few seconds on the line. In order to test the new procedure, they ran two lines in the same manufacturing facility, one with the new procedure and one with the old procedure. Over the course of one week, they selected random samples from each line. The data they gathered was the number of seconds it took to stamp the gear and move the gear to the next station. They want to test it with alpha = .01. They are comfortable assuming equal variances. Sample data are below:

Old Process = 48, 45, 48, 47, 49, 48

New Process = 50, 46, 47, 49, 47, 48

What hypotheses would test the efficiency of the new procedure?

How would you describe this research design?

Posttest Quasi-experiment, Posttest True experiment, Non-experimental design, or true experiment??

These data are bast described as:

Ordinal? Proportional? Nominal? Interval/Ratio?
