Environmental issues are important to everyone these days and a hotel can make a big difference to the environment. Since Housekeeping is one of the largest departments in a hotel, they can help make the largest impact.

Purpose:

To establish 3 Environmental measures in the Housekeeping Department, that will benefit the guest, the housekeeper and the hotel's bottom line and costs/savings involved to implement. This presentation must be uploaded on Blackboard.

Process:

1. You are to come up with 3 Environmental changes in the Housekeeping department

(CANNOT USE LINEN RE-USE PROGRAM AS THAT ONE IS WIDELY PRACTICED ALREADY).

1. Environmental Measures: List 3 items that will help improve the Environment (Save the Planet) for the Housekeeping Department and explain or describe what they are.
2. Do a cost and savings comparison. I do not need to have exact spendings or savings listed but general detail of what is involved (i.e., Linen Re-Use program- Cost- Signs printed to place in each room- one time expenditure/ Savings- Chemicals, Water, Energy and Labour (Laundry Staff)
3. What are the benefits of each measure. Describe how the new measures will benefit either the Housekeeper (i.e., time, labour, personal gain), The Guest (i.e., atmosphere, money, or impressions) and The Hotel Owners (money, labour, community impressions) or all three.
4. Bonus marks will be given for creativity.

Format of Presentation:

• As this is an environmental assignment, so this will be a Powerpoint presentation.
• Title page including student's name and Student number.
• This is not an essay; however information must be presented in an organized manner outlined in sections referring to each question.
• Should consist of at least 4 slides (including cover slide) but should not exceed 12 slides.
• Spelling and grammar will be evaluated.
