The purpose of this essay is for you to explore and describe your perspective on issues specific to social justice and to actualize social justice through a proposed action plan on behalf of students who have disabilities in our public school systems (Pre-K ~ 12).Essay Assignment Goal

As a new professional working in education, you will soon find yourself in situations that require you to work with students who have disabilities. You need to be ready to respond to those situations from an informed, caring, and just perspective. As educators, engaged with students with disabilities, we must always reflect on whether we are contributing to dismantling ableism and the social factors that create disability while at the same time ensuring access to services and supports.

Essay Prompt

The purpose of this essay is for you to 1) explore and describe your perspective on issues specific to social justice and 2) actualize social justice through a proposed action plan on behalf of students who have disabilities in our public school systems. Your essay should craft a specific action plan for you and include descriptions of the following:

1. Social justice issues with regard to students with disabilities, and
2. Your plan to address these social justice issues.

References - If you quote any work done by others, you need to add citations with their names and years and then add them to references. Use any style that you are familiar with for this essay although you all need to use only APA 7th style in any teaching credential programs.

Resources - Yes, you can use outside resources that we did not cover in our class this semester as long as they are directly related to our course content and support your essay.
